This book is edited by Bose Sen and Subbarayappa and published by Indian National Science Academy and University Press Second Edition 2009It has the following statement by sa’id al-Andalusi( Arab Astronomer and Historian of Science, Eleventh Century CE)
The civilizations which were interested in Science include eight groups ,the Indians, the Persians, the Chalde’ens, the Hebrews , the Greeks ,the Romans ,the Egyptians and the ArabsThe first nation that cultivated science is that of Indians. Indian civilization was the source of wisdom, justice and moderation They were creators of sublime thoughtand rare inventions.
