Kandula V N Sarma Rich daliths enjoy greater social and political advantages( clout) compared economically backward people of all castes. So if you do a regression analysis you will find the most important parameter is the backwardness . But the sum of disadvantages due to lower caste , gender and geographic isolation compound nonlinearly… perhaps exponentially . I have not done any data analysis but this is the model I came to after attending the conferences of many feminist groups in which dalith women, women from minority groups and tribal women participated and expressed very forcibly that gender inequality and caste inequality are equally important The even went to the extent of saying economic backwardness becomes a minor parameter in these cases. My model explains their feeling because the additional disadvantage are not linear . Linear regression does not help in such cases
